Crikey

When in Australia you have to visit the Australian Zoo, home of the Crocodile Hunter (Steve Irwin). Surprisingly enough he was there the day we went. He has created a beaut of a zoo. We were able to pet kangaroos and koala bears. It was a really enjoyable day and the croc show was great. In the pictures you will see Albert the Naughty Croc.

Bryon Bay

Continuing along the coast we stopped at the Hippie Capital of Oz. Byron Bay has a great vibe and beautiful lighthouse walk. It is also know as the eastern most point of Australia. Although the beach was attractive and we were looking for a rest the wind was bad and so we opted for the 2 hour hike ( more like 4 hours). This was one of the first nights we camped out as the temperatures are getting warmer and Dianne got back into her bikini. ( no worries Albert has not bought a speedo yet) We also enjoyed a round of golf before leaving Byron Bay and had the great thrill to see 2 small kangaroos on the course.

From Mountains to the Coast

The coast of Australia is beautiful. There are so many scenic drives and incredible beaches. We have headed up the north coast which seems to also go forever. Along the way we stopped to do some whale watching in Port McQuairie. We had a great day with many humpback whales and dolphins.

The Blue Mountains and Wine country

The Blue mountains are outside of Sydney and a great place to try out the car. The scenic views are wonderful and the hiking is exhausting. Dianne and I also took in some beautiful horseback riding and saw our first kangaroos running in the wild. Going out of the Blue mountains we headed to the Hunter Valley Wine regions and tested a few good varieties of wine. We have even found the car a good place to rest for the night. It was still a bit cool so camping in the tent was not yet for us.

G'day Mates

How you goin? Well we are "living in the land down under". We have been in Australia for nearly three weeks. We arrived in Sydney and after getting over jetlag and the climate change (60 degrees), we spent 2 days buying a 1988 Ford station wagon. This bute is our home for the next 2 months.
We finally got to see a bit of Sydney. We went for a harbour cruise, saw the opera house and the famous harbour bridge. We stayed in the "red light" district of Sydney, Kings Cross. We started our adventure by testing our new car up in the Blue Mountains.
