More from the Table Top

Table Mountain

Table Mountain overlooks the city of Cape Town. A group of us walked up it which is quite challenging and very rewarding. The views at the top are spectacular and make a great spot for lunch.

Cape Town

Cape Town is one of the capitals of South Africa and one of the best known cities. After being on a truck for two months it was great to be on my own and kind of scary to make decisions for myself again. Cape town is a beautiful city with the famed table mountain over looking it. The first thing we did was to take a township tour. This really opens your eyes to the way people live in the city. We also tried some local beer at one of the shanty homes.

South Africa - Orange River

Just over the boarder from Namibia we stopped our first night in South Africa. The Orange river is the boarder for the two countries and after seeing all the desert in Namibia it became very green very fast. It was a fast couple of days before entering into Cape Town. The last night of the tent was very memorable and the last day on the truck.

Fish River Canyon

Our last stop before leaving Namibia for South Africa was the Fish River Canyon. This is a smaller version of the Grand Canyon but just as impressive.

Sossusvlei

Sesriem and Sossusvlei

Now I said how much I loved Namibia and the diversity well Sesriem and Sossusvlei are two of the reasons. The sand dunes are beautiful and getting up before dawn we climbed up dune 45 to get some beautiful photos. We then got another bushman ( the guides name was bushman) walk in the Sossusvlei which is an old river cut off by a dune where there are 500 to 600 year old dead trees.

Quad Bikes

Just as much as I disliked the sandboarding I loved the quad biking. The need for speed. This was so much fun as you race up and down the sand dunes. One of my favourite days.
