Hang Gliding

We went hang gliding. We started at the top of the mountain at cloud level. It was amazing. Felt like a bird soaring over the mountains and lakes. We were up for about 20 min. The quides took us over some trees, we got pretty close to them. We both got chances to fly it ourselves, then they decided to do some acrobatic moves, which left us both feeling a little queesy after. But was so worth it.

Queenstown

Queenstown is surrounded by mountains and right beside a lake. It is the city of action and adventure. First was the bungy jump, then a gondola ride and luge run. Then after a long debate on what to do next we decided to go hang gliding. It was amazing the best thing that Dianne has done, now I know how a bird feels. There are so many things to do but so little time and money. Queenstown is a great town, with lots of shops and restaurants and activity. We only have 2 days here, wish it was more. It will have to be next time.

Bungy Jumping

From the start of our trip Albert kept saying all he wanted to do in New Zealand was bungy jump at the place where it all started. So on our drive to Queenstown we just happened to pass by "AJ Hackett Home of the Original Bungy Jump". So we stopped there. Albert took a deep breath and off he jumped, like he had been doing it all his life. It was amazing!! Albert loved it, but couldn't convince Dianne to do it. I'm not crazy enough.

Franz Josef Glaziers

We stopped and took a tour of the Franz Josef Glaziers where you get to climb the glaziers. They give you all the gear and suits to climb up shear ice walls and walk across bridges with some 30 meters of nothing under you but ice at the bottom.
It was loads of fun, maybe a little cold and sometimes scary, but fun!!

Scenic Drives

Along the way there were some spectacular views of mountains, lakes, waterfalls and the blue waters. One area along the coast was a formation of rocks layered together. They call them the pancake rocks.

Bridge Over Water

The south island is so much fun. Lots to do and see. Like I,ve said before the roads are windy so on our long drives we had to stop lots and go for short treks. We stopped at the highest bridge over water in New Zealand and walked accross it. For some fun we couldn't just walk back across it (done that already) so we zipped lined back over it.
